Clarification of the Bantam & Midget Team Selection Process

The DBYHL has a philosophy of providing every child, regardless of skill level, the opportunity to play ice hockey. With this in mind, that is why we do not hold tryouts for our Bantam & Midget teams. We select the team based on the first come, first serve basis of our registrations received. That is why it is so important to get your registrations in early. For those that have not made other travel teams and still want to play hockey this is a great alternative. It is also a great opportunity for the new player or someone that has played in-line to get into ice hockey.

The Team(s) will play at the level appropriate for the skill level of the players on that team (Bantam & Midget). Generally they will be playing an independent schedule.  All home games will be played out of the Kettering Rec Center with away games being at the other teams home rink. Practices are generally during the weeknight with games on the weekend. The Travel teams will start practices at the beginning of September with games starting sometime in October.

Due to the changing landscape of the high school hockey programs in the Dayton area (and the feeder teams such as junior varsity and bantams) it is difficult to field full teams in the bantam and midget age groups consistently. The Board is forced to make a decision based on either expected or true registrations as to whether to offer a team in these age divisions.

Although the Bombers did not offer a Bantam team in 2004-05 we will offer a team this year (2005-06).
